About Dr. Camron Johnson

Dr. Johnson chose the Roanoke Valley over 20 years ago as a way to balance personal and professional goals. The beautiful mountains and outdoor activities have always provided a safe haven and adventure for her and her family. Dr. Johnson grew up in Annapolis, Maryland and attended the University of Maryland, College Park for her undergraduate education in Biology. She did research at Johns Hopkins University before earning her degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her practice was further solidified during residency at Geisinger Medical Center in central Pennsylvania. She served as chief resident and later as a pediatric hospitalist after completing her medical training.

Dr. Johnson has been board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics since 2002. This requires ongoing education to stay up to date with the advances in medicine.

Dr. Johnson was in the original group of physicians to obtain board certification in Breastfeeding Medicine in 2024.

Dr. Johnson has also completed extra training to be proficient in managing mental health concerns in children and adolescents.

Dr Johnson first found her calling to pediatrics during her 3rd year of medical school when she encountered a sick newborn. Her calling to care for children has led her to be actively involved in the community, making sure even the smallest voices are heard.

Clinician: Personal connection with kids and families has shaped most of Dr. Johnson’s career. It is where she finds the joy in her life’s work.
Advocate: Dr. Johnson advocates for children in schools, the justice system, and at the state level. She helps create educational opportunities for physicians and works to shape policies to keep children safe.
Educator: For most of her career, Dr. Johnson has taught physicians-in-training, nurses, and PA/NP students. She believes children thrive when caregivers at every level understand their unique needs.
