The breastfeeding journey is both beautiful and challenging. At Three Peaks Pediatrics and Lactation, we’re here to support you with a variety of tools that make the experience easier and more comfortable. In a perfect world, mom and baby are all you need, but there are some things that can make everyone more comfortable.
Tools for Comfort and Convenience
Tools for Comfort and Convenience
Nursing Pillow: A good nursing pillow helps position your baby comfortably at breast level. This can prevent neck and back strain for you and promote a better latch for your baby. Add a stepstool to lift your feet, and you can really relax.
Nipple Cream: A lanolin-based or organic nipple cream can soothe and protect your skin. It’s safe for your baby, so you don’t have to wipe it off before feeding.
Nursing Bras and Clothing: Specially designed supportive nursing bras, tanks, and tops with easy-access flaps can simplify feedings, whether you’re at home or out and about.
Breast Pump: If you plan to return to work, a breast pump is a game-changer. Double electric pumps are most efficient, and many are covered by insurance. The flange fit is key to getting a comfortable and effective fit.
Milk Storage Bags or Containers: These are essential for safely storing pumped milk in the fridge or freezer. Be sure to label them with the date to keep track of freshness.
